Bit of a rubbish article really, because as the writer says, they didn’t watch anything of merit or depth on their screens, which they could have done. They chose instead to watch empty conservative american trash like Star Trek. So it is no wonder their life felt equally empty and without depth as a result.

Books are not necessary for a quality life.

Not going to read any of these articles until I finish the book but I thought Cobweb, (which he wrote yonks ago) was a very accessible thriller, (as well as being one of the best things he’s done in my not so humble opinion) so writing thrillers is hardly a new thing
